The OPR has an o-ring that tends to harden over time. Also a few have found the piston inside it to be sticking from parts of the o-ring.

Other causes can be a cracked or loosening oil pick tube. If your engine is noisy when you start it up cold worn rod and crank bearings could be the problem. What brand oil filter are you using? Some of the off brands don't have the check valve that keeps the oil system primed.
