After I fill the gas tank on the 85/1 I get a strong smell of fuel around the rear and a little bit inside - goes away after a day or so. I read the old posts on the subject (fairly common on early models) and looked in all the recommended places. SoCal posted a great diagram

The bad news is there is indeed a leak - it looks to be comming from the vent connection on the drivers side front of the tank though I can't really see it - might also be a crack but again I can't see around the corner. Has anybody found it possible to undo the straps and tilt the tank enough to see/repair that area? Enough room to cut thru the deck and come in from above? Anything to keep from dropping the transmission just to fix a hose (I'm still hoping that it's not cracked). Gotta love the engineering (or lack of) !!!
