Jeff If you knew how you were going to fall it would make this easier
I "think" most street sport riding mishaps are either running wide or low siding. If you come off the low side, you are behind the bike. Your body has much more friction than the plastic and aluminium on the bike. Once you stop sliding , chances are you can stand up and watch your bike going away without you. You may even begin to mentally total up the $ before it stops. If it hits some thing hard, this does not apply but the $ number is probably bigger too. LOL
I would go with the sliders and put some aftermarket skin on it. Save the pretty (and expensive) OEM stuff for resale
