3.0 Rebuild options (track car)

Hi everyone,

I am beginning to tear down a 3.0 from a 1978 euro spec 911SC. It has been sitting for 8 yrs with 150k miles on the odometer. I intend to build the car into a street legal but dedicated track car. I'm a little new to building 911s so I was hoping for some advice. I would like to reassemble the engine and get the car running again for as little $ as possible while leaving options open for upgrading as more $ is available (i.e., invest in the internals now, but not necessarily the bolt ons yet). I'd prefer not to have to open her up again later

Initially I was thinking of investing in 98m PandCs running with the stock crank. Can this run with CIS (I can possibly covert to carbs later)? What cams would be a good solution to build in extra power but leave me some flexability in the future? What other internals would be a good idea? Is it a good idea to port polish with the enlarged cylinders?

Thanks in advance!

Brian
