82 911SC First Porsche Oil Leak
I am happy with my car, but not the oil leak. Zero drips and just a tiny amount of seep where present on initial inspection and following three extended test drives. This car was extremely dry, definitely a positive in my desicion to purchase. During my drive home home, at a fuel stop, I added 1 quart of oil. When I got home my "dry" engine was dripping oil from the center low spot of the case. Prior to adding the quart, checked at idle, hot, level ground the the oil level was 1/4 inch above the lower dots. As I used up that quart (I love driving this car and often!) the engine seems to start to dry up agian, or at least not drip as much. My last oil addition produced even faster dripping. I added, as a test, 1 quart taking the level to 1/4 inch above the upper two dots on the dipstick, when I got home I could watch oil drip drip drip off the center low spot of the engine. As I am using up this quart, the drip rate is again diminishing.
Thanks to this board, I have already gained free horse power by adjusting the throttle linkage to open all the way, big jump in power. I also just replaced my forward shift bushings and added a WEVO coupler to improve, dramatically, the quality of the my gear changes.
Do you have ideas for me about about how to attack the source of my oil leak?
