I have recently acquired a 1980 SC Targa with air conditioning that is currently dysfunctional. Main problem I have identified so far is that the idgit who the PO hired to install the carpet simply CUT the capillary tube from the temp switch.

My local dealer was not sure if the capillary was part of the switch, and it has to come from Germany. (4 weeks!) Jeez. Gonna be cool here before the switch gets here!

Two questions.

1. Is the Capillary tube part of the switch, or a separate part?

1. Will the AC work without the capillary tube, at least for testing purposes (assuming everything else is there!)

Any help would be most appreciated! I have searched all of the AC threads here and not seen this particular item discussed.
