Actually, your high beam switch probably fried. My guess is that if you're not already having trouble with the high beams flickering and coming on by themselves, you will shortly.
Some people open the switches up and clean them. I don't think it's worth the time and effort. When this happened to my car, I replaced the switch. It's an easy job. The toughest part is replacing all the wires that go from the back of the headlight switch to the high-beam switch. If you're careful, and do them one-by-one, it's not that bad. Just go slow. Our host sells replacement high-beam/indicator switches.
Also, now's the time to install one of Marcus Sucro's relay kits on your headlight circuits. It will prevent this problem from happening again.
