poly trailing arm bushings

I've just read all of the negative comments about these bushings. Probably should have done my homework before hand but I just have too many other items to deal with simultaneously i.e. completing engine rebuild etc. The bushings are already mounted into the arms. A few things I notice and don't like.
- no metal bushing down the middle or sides
- the overall width is narrower than original and seems to have much more slop
- lack of flexibily/compliance

My thought was to drill out the centre to accomodate the original inserts. This would also mean grinding the sides slightly to get back to the original width.

Please let me know your thoughts on this or if anybody has done this. BTW this is stock 73T

Thanks, Joe
