The factory tach/boost is NOT very accurate. Another location for the boost guage is in the left dash vent...someone sells a kit for this, but would be an easy mod for the do-it-yourselfer.
Or...if you want the Jap car street racer look, how about getting one of those cute windshield pillar mount brackets
