I live in Kansas. Driving From Topeka to CO on I70 without temp tag is really a long shot. Kansas Troopers patrol I70 much much more than any other Kansas road.
If you took a two lane across the state the local sheriff or police would stop you for sure.
If you do try to chance it, make sure you have a good bill of sale, proof of insurance from your carrier (special for the new purchase) and be very very polite and respectful if you get stopped.
Kansas troopers are a class act but no nonsense.
