I had this problem last year. If you are getting power to motor (switch, fuse, connection check out ok), and the mechanism is well lubed, then it's probably a tired motor. Time for replacement ($135 for my 87 from Pelican).
I removed and reinstalled my motor 3 times before finally realizing that it was indeed tired. The thing worked fine on the bench, but as soon as it was reinstalled it stopped working.
