I have heard mates of mine getting Avis to special order a car into Ireland for rental....but it will cost.
Agree that you don't need to drive while in Dublin..its a bit like Rome (but not anywhere as bad). You walk or Taxi it ...or Dart it (light rail).
I really don't agree that you shouldn't drive your 911 in Ireland..and I too lost my rear suspension while driving around. But the torsion tube would have gone some time soon... I only pre-empted it while driving on a roller coaster bog road giving it the boot.
If you want advice for some awe inspiring routes drop me a mail..or we can keep it on the thread. I have advised many friendsfrom aboad of some of the best driving roads in Europe (primarily sw Ireland by the Atlantic) and indeed some of the most chill out secnery you can handle.
