Question rear license lighting?

Having entirely removed the huge rubber bumper overrides form the rear of my '83 SC (it'll never be parallel-parked), I'm left without lighting for the rear license plate. Has anybody solved this problem cleanly, without requiring too much drilling and altering of the bumper itself? There are plenty of grubby plastic $1.98 made-in-Mexico license lights intended for trailers and the like available at AutoZone-type stores, but I don't particularly want to do that. The Performance Products catalogue shows an illuminated license-plate frame, which would be perfect, but they've had my order for two months now and apaprently are permanantly backordered. Anybody know of another source for either an illuminated frame (which will doubtless be a cheapjack part but won't require any drilling) or quality lamps that could be affixed to the bumper permanantly and not make the thing look like a boat trailer?
