Higher output alternator

Seeing the below post, I need to ask a question in the same vein.
Racing recently I discovered that the stock alternator is not providing enough output to power the car and my fans for the oil coolers.
Does anybody have a suggestion for a higher output alternator?
I know you can go to a single wire, internally regulated GM alternator but have not been able to determine what vehicle that would be out of. There was a thread regarding that issue some time ago but the individual just named it as a GM 62 amp alternator without naming a vehicle and the guys at my local parts store can only refrence something like this by vehicle make and model.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
