Open the trunk and remove the carpet. Remove the board in front of the blower assembly. Then, take a look and remove anything else that you deem blocks your access to what you want to see.

If I had a lot of wiring work to do in that area, I'd probably pull the battery, the fuel tank piping and the left side air distribution plumbing.
