Im conflicted about this immigration issue:
It seems obvious that there is work to do that Americans either do not want to do or there is a shortage of Americans to do them: construction, farming, day layboring, cooking, janitorial duties, trucking.
I suppose we could subsidize this stuff, but aren't we all for a free market here in the States? No body supports free-trade coffee to support South America when we can get it cheaper from Asia right? We do subsidize our farms here, but wouldn't they would all be in Mexico if we didn't? We outsource technology jobs to India because its much cheaper, our computers are made in Asia.
It seems a lot of people want the immigrants gone, and I can understand that, but is there a solution to replace them? Who will build the houses, pick the berries, cook in the restraunts? Does the government step in and pay Americans more to do these jobs, does the market decide?
