Went along to the NEC Classic Car Show (UK) today and was first struck that the Porsche Club GB Stand had no early cars - strange for a Classic Event !
Secondly, I was then taken by an announcement, when watching the Mike Brewer and Mark Evans double act (do you guys get Discovery channel with the 'Car is Born' series ?) on stage, that rides were available for a small fee in a range of cars from the NEC on that day.
So off I went to seek out these rides, only to find an even better offer - yes, for £100 donation to their childrens charity, I could get three laps at a circuit near me in one of either a Ferrari ENZO or a CARRERA GT - wow.
So, I now have my place booked at the 'date / venue to be announced' event in 2007 - really looking forward to it.
So which would you have gone for ?
Sorry, but I went for the ENZO (I might pay again on the day and do both !)
The gentleman organising it is doing it ALL at his own cost, and he uses the Enzo and his wife uses the Carrera GT. They have 13 fantastic cars in the large garage, including a 997, 996, 993 Turbo, F40, Murcliago etc. - what a choice to have.
I will report back next year once I have been on this very special day out.
