what state?

-in NJ at the state facility they look under your car with a mirror. dyno the car whole 9 yards. pretty involved inspection. its free and if you fail your good for 31 days, you can fail unlimited times.

if you go to a private facility chances are they will just put it on the dyno and test the basics, this will run ya $75 (or more), pass OR fail u still pay. and it still needs to pass smog.

i read here that a perfectly tuned 944 MIGHT pass smog without a cat. but i wouldnt bet on it.

my car actually ran and sounded better once i put the cat BACK on the car. Deeper sounding and smoother.

my explorer i take to a private inspection, because i know it will pass but i need them to overlook the smoked windows, but the 944 i took to the state.
