LCD lasts on average as much as 400% longer than plasma.
Plasma TV's can lose as much as 50% of their brightness in the first five years!(whereas a typical LCD will not be reduced to 50% of it's original brightness for on avg 20 years of use).
For this reason, and after comparing to the new DLP technology(which gives a great pic but still comes in a big-ole' cabinet) i just bought a 37" LCD, and am extremely pleased with it.
