I disagree with some of what is posted here.
I would suspect that if a Porsche dealership had 10 scruffy looking customers walk in at the same time as 1 well dressed customer, the smart money will be on the well dressed customer.
While it may be true that people do not "comparison shop" a Porsche against a Hyundai, there are a lot of looky-loos who just like to daydream. A salesman has to sell cars to earn his commission - and helping some vagrant with his automotive wetdream doesn't pay the bills.
Besides, this thread seems really contradictory here... people in one thread saying they shouldn't be judged by what they wear to the high end car dealerships, while in other threads saying "look at me, look at me - i have brand x pocket knife, brand y watch, and the latest kitchen gizmo"
