My G50 Carrera 3.2 has cost less than $1000 per year in maintenance and repairs over the three years I've owned it, but you never know when a $4000 top end rebuild could be needed. So you have to bank for the occasional expense. My quote is with doing minor maintenance myself.

The fact that a 15-20 year old Porsche has finished depreciating is great wife convincer! Even a used car depreciates at least $1-3000 per year, so that makes up for any surprise repairs. If you don't have any surprises (as in my case), that's money in the bank. And as long as you maintain the car in nice condition, it will be worth at least what you paid.
