The DME has Porsche engine maps pre-programed in it and you can semi program your driving style into it. When you put your foot on the gas during starting the throttle position sensor should give you a engine fault light on the Tach because it's not fully closed. So don't do that.
I had the problem you describe on my RSA, took her in and they hooked up the Porsche hammer. My mech (Porsche Factory trained Master Mechanic) said that sometimes the DME gets a brain fart and there's a setting in the DME that needs to be reset for idle stabilation. Takes about 5 minutes to do. He reset it and I haven't had a problem since.
I'd recommend that you get the hammer hooked up to her and check that first before starting to tear any parts off or spending any money.e
Oh yeah, and he didn't charge me for the check/adjustment either, is that cool or what. That's one of the reasons I drive 60 miles to let him do the things I can't do myself.
