I replaced the original speakers in my '84 Carrera with new Kenwood speakers I got from Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com/). They fit into the original holes in the doors and rear deck. Wiring was very straight forward (no cutting or splicing).
Check Crutchfield's web site to get some other ideas.
