seeking advice on one leaking head...
I hope some engine specialist(s) can give me advice on this problem: My 964 C2 Tiptronic engine has 76.000 miles on it and this is an engine without the later head seals etc.
The engine is still dry, even no “oily sweating” and it is running great, real smooth power.
Few weeks ago I noticed a kind of puffy noise hitting the accelerator while the engine is running between 2000-3000 rpm: a leaky head !
I took off al the valve covers to check the (head)studs and the were all fine...strange…
So I removed plastic part of the engine shroud above of the fan and I saw that the right cilinder and head combination (the one at the most rear end of the car…) has some black/brown stuff between top of the cilinder and the head. I know this is not oil but the residu of what is clearly a leaking head.
As I mentioned before: the studs are all fine… It looks like that one or two nuts became loose (is that possible anyway ??)
My real question is: Is it possible to “retorque” that specific stud/nut (or 2 , or 4 studs) so the leakage will disappear ??
I hope someone can give me an advice or has experienced this before… Of course I do not want a top end rebuild because the engine is running fine and (most important) still dry.
Hope to hear from you, thanks in advance !
