For nuts and bolts on a 356:

Most of these fastners are available. The
key is getting the right one, and the right
quality/strength. The factory parts book lists all of the fastners, together with specifications. You can use those specs at a good auto parts store, or go on line (fasteners) to find like size/quality fasteners. For example, one of the bolts that holds down the generator stand is shown as part #900.074.037.02. The descriptions is:
Hexagon bolt M8x35 DIN 931-8G Gal Zn9. The
M I beleve is or "metric", 8 x 35 is size
in milimeters, the DIN describes quality,
and the rest I'm not clear on, but you get
the idea.
