I'm not sure what you mean by "sunny Southwest". To me that conjures up images of Arizona or New Mexico. Crawford is near Waco which is in Central Texas, not southern Texas. While the winters are certainly no where near those of the midwest or northern states, it is not "the sunny Southwest".
