>I guess its at times like this I wish I had religion, so I could have a 'Purpose Driven Life'. The problem is that I can't become religious simply out of convenience for myself. I would have to believe it, and I don't. I can't.
I've been there. All I can say to that is to ask yourself why you feel a need for meaning in your life in the first place. No other living thing cares about its meaning, but somehow humans do.

For me, the only answer I could come up with to fill that need was God. Have you really investigated any religion for yourself or just know about it from what you've been told or from supposed "religious folks" that you've observed? No, you can't believe in God out of convenience, but there's no harm in searching and reading about God and different religions for yourself when you are searching for purpose in your life. For me, investigating God and religion for myself was the only way out of the feelings you describe.

Best of luck no matter what path you choose to follow.
