You can do a full auto from a 411 VW (sqr back,notch,fstback). There is a 356 kit-car maker that has done this(but they use a custom frame).
The engine and trans bolt together. It shouldn't be to hard to mount the trans.
If you can't do the work yourself, I couldn't put a price on this conversion. easier to teach the wife to drive a stick....the kid doesn't need to drive this car either way
