I had a Blaupunkt RPD540 CD player in mine. You have to cut the dash out, but bring it to your local hardware store, and they'll cut the metal for you. The yellow wire is for when the ingition is off and the red if for when the ingition is on. The black is ground. As far as the inline fuses, I took them out. The new units have fuses built in. Other than that, you wire up the speaker wires and are set. The unit should come with instructions and its very simple. One word of advise though, don't put speekers in the rear wheel wells like the PO did on my car. My next project was to replace the panels because they leak bad! Instead I was told that you can put the later 911 rear decks in with the speekers. Looks good and doesn't require cutting huge holes in you car. Oh, and make sure everything works properly. The reason I got the Blaupunkt is because the amp put in by the PO blew out the ENTIRE system, fuses and all. The speekers where blown (go figure, seriously

) The reciever and amp were fried, and every fuse on that circuit was blown. All this in about 1 second. The amp had internal problems but it also was VERY poorly wired. Just a thought. Personally, I would rewire everything if you're having problems. I did. Took a week, an hour or so here and there, and everything worked perfect when finished. Total bill with speakers and CD player, $200. And you get a better installation than any place would give you. And yes, I was an absolute beginer. Its not hard and its fun. Good luck.
