At least your problem is not critical to driving.
Just another thought, you might try to troubleshoot your Euro parking light feature--one side on when turning stalk is moved up or down and ignition off. Since that doesn't work on your car, and it should, maybe dealing with that one problem will cure or lead to the answer to the original problem.
