I finally got back home (had to go to pebble beach to check out the cars- too bad I couldn't stay for the weekend)
Anyway I jacked my car up and did some work. First I cleaned and tightened the ground connection on the engine block. I cleaned the connections from the battery to the starter. then I removed the alternator and installed a new $22 voltage regulator in my old alternator. (this part is shared with most audi and bmw cars from the mid 80's so it was cheap) It was fairly easy to replace. Well now my voltmeter on my dash is rock solid, where before it danced all around with any change in load such as turning on a turn signal.
hopefully my electrical problem is cured...... now must figure out why my timing belt tracking is off. I'm going to tear it down this week to find out.
BTW i stopped by moto sport in salt lake city the other day. I have never seen so much 928 stuff in one spot.
