Yes, the SC distributors have eyes on it for the circlip pliers.
The post stated right on the top that the procedure is for an '82 distributor.
No idea what the earlier version uses.
Sounds like 2 very small screwdrivers are the way. (Watch it fly!)
I suggest getting circlips of the right size with eyes from an industrial supplier and external circlip pliers. (They'll know what kind/size you'll need, bring the shaft along)
