Speedometer drive

My 69 speedo did not work either. It was the speedometer drive attached to the tranny, not the cable or speedo. You can buy one at Performance Products for $69.00. Be sure if you buy one elsewhere that the drive gear ratio is 1:1 not 2:1. The gear ratio is stamped on the end of the VDO speedometer drive unit.
Mine was just worn out, everything else was OK. They are easy to replace let me know if you need details.
