Some of the after market pedal bushing replacement kits supply a replacement pin that is way too soft and eventually fails either by bending or breaking. If it bends the action of the pedal slowly deteriorates over time and you might not notice it in daily driving. I had this happen with a 930 at Road Atlanta.

Get the factory replacement pin. It can be repaired in the car (we did it at the track) but it's neither fun nor easy due to the working space. Removing the seat will help.
