Facet pump should work fine without psi reg if your needles and seats are in order. I'm not sure but I believe the facet pump max psi is 6psi if pinched off. Webers require 4 psi to operate properly 6 psi should do the trick just right.

Also Adam if your regulator is the chrome type with the knob the #2 setting is too low and could possibly starve for fuel on a long stretch of road a wide open throttle. I would set it at #5 (5psi) and while idling you will know if your needle and seat will hold the pressure. In theory it doesnt matter if the psi is 12 psi or 1 psi as long as it don't bypass the needle and seats or starve for fuel. Remember that pressure in the carb bowls will always be atmospheric psi.

Norm have you considered a rebuild kit for you mechanical pump? Facet pumps have a very ugly sound. The rebuild is cheap ($35.00?) and very simple. And that will simplify the critical carb adjustments that plague the carberated p-cars.
