Remember that if you retire at 40 you have to plan on living another 40+ years. Will you have enough alternative income to cover your living expenses? Savings won't do it, unless you live off the interest of a multi-million dollar account. Don't forget 40 years of inflation yet to come. What about health insurance? College for the kids?
