So if you're in Los Angeles, and you have a Honda/Acura product...
Go talk to Stacy at Affordable Care for Honda/Acura.
The guy was unbelievable. Now being a Porsche Specialist, I know how important it can be not to take your car to any yayhoo with a tool set. So after some searching on the web, I risked taking my wife's CR-V to this guy yesterday. I asked for a timing belt/water pump/valve adjustment/major service, the works...
He calls me last night, and says, "I hate to waste your money, this car doesn't need anything. I changed the oil, and it's ready for you to pick up whenever."
I took this guy the parts, told him everything and still he calls me and tells me this stuff was all recently changed!!!
So I tell him, "OK, thanks! I'll bring my CL-S by tomorrow then, and lets do all that stuff on it instead." He says OK. Keep in mind, I have all the parts, except the genuine Honda/Acura water pump. I do work at Pelican after all, and get a sweet discount on parts when I need them.
So this morning, he gives me a labor estimate of $470, plus the water pump, which he says he'll call me on with a price. He also said I could pay for my wife's oil change when I pick up my car. I was thinking, this is TOO Mayberry
So he calls me at 5 after 5, and says to come and get it, it's ready to go...
I show up and he says, "You didn't need a valve adjustment by the way, we checked them. The ticking noise was coming from a worn bearing on your idler roller. Also, the knick-knack parts you wanted will be in tomorrow, and I'll install them on Saturday if you have the time, no extra charge."
I'm expecting a total bill of around $650, including the water pump and my wife's oil change. He hands me an invoice for my car, it says $403!!!
That's $67 BELOW the estimate, unheard of!!!!! I asked him about the bill for my wife's oil change, and he tells me not to worry about it, it's just an oil change, and that he's glad that I'm happy. WTF, am I even in a shop?!
Well, anyways, my car is quiet as a mouse, and both mine and the wife's vehicles are safe and secure for at least 60K miles pending a disaster of some sort.
BOTTOM LINE, I'd like to thank American Honda, for building such sweet and reliable vehicles, and Stacy and the guys at Affordable Care for making me feel like I just had a weekend in Vegas. If you're in a Honda/Acura only, stop by and let these guys take care of you. You'd be a fool not to...
