Width is no problem. I've seen 285 wide tires on a 944 with no rubbing.

All 5-lug Porsches use the same bolt pattern, so other Porsche wheels will fit. But the bolt pattern is used only by Porsche, so no wheels from any other car will fit.

Your car uses early offset wheels. The wheels from any later Porsches-

944, 1987-on,
911, 1990-on
993,
996,
997,
Boxster,
Cayman,

Are all late-offset wheels, which can be used on your car with proper spacers.

The things to be wary of is adding too much unsprung rotating weight, and messing up the great handling your 944 offers.

A 944 is most fun to drive with equally sized tires front/rear. They look great with massively wide rear tires, but that width induces understeer, making the car handle like a fat pig.

Heavier wheels will also slow acceleration.

If all you want is the car to look good while sitting out in front of Starbucks, no big deal.
But if you like tossing the car around fun corners, don't go overboard on big, wide wheels & tires.

Hope this helps......
