Is pin 14 (Red B+) needed in the chassis wiring harness?

I have a question - is pin 14 (red B+) of the 14 pin connector located in the engine bay actually needed for a very simple wiring configuration? This question is probably useful for most of the aircooled 911 years but in my instance it's relating to a '77 chassis.

I don't think it is. I've been working on wiring recently and I think pin 14 is only used to provide power from the alternator to the rear fuse panel and relays. If I'm not running a heater blower motor, rear defrost, etc. can I remove pin 14 from the 14 pin connector of the chassis harness?

Thanks for the help.
