Gas leak
Thanks for the help in advance and I"m sorry to be so longwinded but it gets the job done:
Today I was about to hop into my car after lunch and noticed a puddle under the right rear tire. It was gas coming down off of the tank at a rate of about 1 drop/2s. I was pretty spooked and didn't start the car or anything.
About 30 minutes later I came back and it had stopped dripping so I stuck my head under with a flashlight and saw that it was coming from the top right rear part of the tank (above where I could see). I got the car back home but am a bit spooked.
What I think is that since this was the warmest part of the day and the tank was completely full that there was expansion of the gas in the tank due to temperature since a small amount of gas ultimately leaked out.
The tank is full to the brim and I had a problem a couple of weeks ago with a gas pump not shutting off. I also need to replace the fuel filter (which has been on the car waaaay to long) but was going to wait until I get my shocks installed.
I can't see how to get to the top of the tank so I'm not sure how to investigate this.
Can someone tell me what to check?
How is the tank safely removed from the car?
What are the common failure points here?
Thanks again!
CD
