'99 I was early AM cruising (I-15 CA) in sparse traffic, '89 cab at about 115 mph. Slowed when I saw a cruiser exit the ramp well ahead of me. I didn't see him get right back on, though, and radar detector was silent
Took him a while to catch me, and when he did he was very nice. He said 'if I had that car, I'd speed, too' -- wrote me for 10 mph over
I've been pretty fortunate, and found officers very lenient if you are respectful and own up to your actions
Rarely speed now -- traffic in LA is just too heavy to bother
