Gentlemen,

I am in need of assistance and advice. Having lead an isolated 911 life I have had little chance to look over other Porsches to compare to my own. I wanted to know if the original shift knob of a '78 911SC had white grooves (like the heater knob) or if it was always black as mine is now. Also has anyone attempted to restore a set of faded heater control knobs? I hate to get new ones when mine have no cracks, but they are Barbie pink and my 3 year old daughter finds them..."cute." Any advice as to repainting grooves white and the body red?

I realize I could buy replacements, but I hate to remove original parts. I sort of feel like I am taking part of the car's soul...hmm am I getting too attached?!?
