Has anyone replaced their early 911 heater hoses and found that the fancy type Pelican sells are way too long? Even with the hose scrunched to its minimum length it is 2-3 inches too long to fit onto both the heat exchanger and the flapper box simultaneously.

Before I cut up my $$$ hoses I want to make sure I'm not doing anything stupid. Maybe the 12" kind are for the SC type heating system with the blower motor?
