I replaced the tc in my AWD '02 mountaineer at about the same mileage as yours. Bought a brand new unit from a supplier in Texas - $1200 + shipping I believe. When I first called them they had about 500 units in stock, when I placed my order a month later, they had 3 left. They said they were selling them as fast as they could get their hands on them.
Common problem.
