Sorry to hear it Joe. From what I've read you can do it without dropping the motor. Looks like it would be pain but probably better than dropping the motor.
However, if you made the mistake I did (due to an error in the Haynes manual) and installed washers between the oil cooler and the case then you might have to pull the motor to remove the washers.
