Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I visited my local Ace and picked up three black nylon plugs. 50 cents each! The price was right. The fit was a bit tight...too tight, until I sanded the plug down a bit. Then it snapped right in! As a bonus I took some touch up paint I have on hand (it's a driver not a show piece) had and painted the plug itself. It blends in nicely. So, a buck and a half and I've even got a spare...nice.

At some point I'll do a repaint and cover over the hole...until then, this is as good as it can get.

I took some photos and will post as soon as I can...but it's a damn simple job.
