Does the TSA have the right to force you to remove permanent jewelry from your person? (Many nipple and belly rings have closed rings) I would look at it that if you need pliers to remove it; the idea is that it is permanent.
Perhaps they should make us pull our fillings; they come out with pliers, are not natural and "might" be used as a weapon.
