John, I once had a situation where a piece of crud got into the pump and jammed it. On the bench, I was able to restart the pump in reverse, while applying compressed air to the outlet, and never had an issue afterward. Check the fuel tank strainer for blockage and any rust in the strainer outlet cavity. This area is often neglected on our cars.
