Thanks, Tony
I don't have anything mounted on either chain cover, but I recall that some of the sensors were located there on later cars. The only sensor/switch that I have on my motor with two terminals is mounted on the breather cover. When I went out and checked, the blue/yellow stripe and yellow wires that I was tracing were attached. Initial probe showed both terminals grounded, and with the yellow wire removed, the switch correctly showed the the correct polarity.
The yellow wire is grounded, and the only other connection (according to my diagram) is the starter solenoid. I will get the car up in the air tomorrow and check to see whether the yellow wire or the starter solenoid is grounded.
Even so, from what I can see in the diagram there shouldn't be a current draw with the key off from the yellow wire unless there is some grounded connection within the starter itself?? Any ideas??
Thanks again,
Kevin
