mine died the week i got my car. i ordered the gear. could NOT fix it myself. and i consider myself pretty handy with fixing such things. just could not get it in there. sent it to a place on the east coast..maybe called eastern electronics? maybe in pennsylvania. had it fixed in less than 1 week for like $150 with calibration and they touched up my scratches to the metal ring. i think i sent it to a place different than where every one else sends it because the turn around was quicker. call around for turnaround times if it matters to you. i didnt care for driving without a speedo....tickets....
EDIT: i also recall while trying to fix it, i gently touched the needle and badly messed it up. very fragile. personally, i think it was worth the money to have a pro do it properly
